Kent Nallah to Kareri village en route Kareri lake trek.
A major section of the road from Dharamshala to Kareri gaon at Kent Nallah just disappeared due to the landslide. Therefore to get from Dharamshala to Kareri gaon we had to take one taxi from Dharamshala bus stop to Kent Nallah trek for 10 mins in a marshy area and then take a second shared taxi from Kent Nallah to Kareri gaon via Ghera.
I have often noticed that people in the mountains are extremely understanding and helpful. We were low on cash so the driver accepted Paytm even when few people in the area use Paytm. There was poor internet connectivity so a total stranger offered hotspot. The driver’s bank was experiencing payment failures so a third person offered to accept payments on behalf of the driver and settle it with him later on.
My shoes broke while trekking from one end of Kent Nallah to the other over the marshy patch. The driver ensured me that he will help me buy shoes so that I can complete the trek successfully and he did so by taking me to a trusted shop, while all other passengers of the shared taxi negotiated the price on my behalf! This helpful attitude and genuineness can only be found at the mountains!
